2017 Dutchmen Schedule

2017 PGCBL Schedule (All Teams)

Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) President Jeff Kunion has officially released the schedule for the upcoming 2017 season, which begins on Thursday, June 1, and will encompass a total of 325 games across Upstate New York this summer.

The PGCBL’s 13 teams will each play a 50-game schedule with 25 home games and 25 on the road during the months of June and July, followed by the playoff rounds, which begin on August 1. Please note that all game times will be announced in the near future.

Said Kunion about the slate for the 2017 season, "This schedule expands the number of teams each of our franchises play, while still emphasizing the geographic rivalries our fans enjoy so much."

Opening Day will feature 10 teams in action, with the Adirondack Trail Blazers, Amsterdam Mohawks, Jamestown Jammers, Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, and Newark Pilots each playing on their home fields on June 1.  The Dutchmen will start the season on the road on Friday, June 2nd at Glens Falls before the home opener slated for Saturday, June 3rd against Mohawk Valley.

The 2017 PGCBL All-Star Game, which annually pits the top players from the East Division against the best from the West Division, will be played on Tuesday, July 18. Further details, including the host of this year’s All-Star festivities, will be announced at a later date.

For the second consecutive season, the postseason will feature the top four teams from each division. The first round will pair the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds, and the No. 2 and No. 3-seeded teams against each other in a one-game playoff for the right to advance to their respective Division Championship Series. The Division Championship Series and PGCBL Championship Series will each be played in a best-of-three format, with the highest remaining seed hosting two of the three contests.

The playoffs will begin on Tuesday, August 1, with the best-of-three Division Championship Series on August 2-4 and PGCBL Championship series scheduled for August 6-8.

In related news, Kunion has announced that the Victor RailRiders have elected to be placed under voluntary suspension for the 2017 season.

"The RailRiders informed the league that approvals from the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been delayed, and construction of the stadium at the Pinnacle Athletic Complex will not be completed by the 2017 season,” stated Kunion. “We authorized the RailRiders to play at Victor High School as a temporary measure, but the field at Victor High School does not meet league standards and is not an acceptable long-term venue.  We look forward to the day the RailRiders are back on the field."

As a result, the West Division will be comprised of six teams: Adirondack Trail Blazers, Elmira Pioneers, Geneva Red Wings, Jamestown Jammers, Newark Pilots, and Onondaga Flames. The Flames are the newest member of the PGCBL and will play their inaugural season in 2017 at the Onondaga Community College Baseball Complex in Syracuse, N.Y.

The East Division will be made up of seven teams: Albany Dutchmen, Amsterdam Mohawks, Glens Falls Dragons, Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs, Oneonta Outlaws, Saugerties Stallions, and Utica Blue Sox. Utica has been relocated to the East Division after playing its first four seasons in the PGCBL as members of the West.

About the PGCBL
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League is a 13-team summer collegiate baseball league in Upstate New York.
