Tommy Pellis (Seton Hill) Week 6 Dutchmen Player of the WeekBy: Christian De Guzman
ALBANY, N.Y. – Tommy Pellis (Seton Hill) has been named the Dutchmen Player of the Week for the period between July 8th and July 14th.
Pellis went 5-14 at the plate this past week in four games for a batting average of .357. He hit one home run and recorded four RBIs during a 3-1 week for the Dutchmen, including wins over Amsterdam and Saugerties – two teams who are in playoff positions in the PGCBL East Division.
The infielder from Greensburg, Pennsylvania continues to produce in clutch situations for the Dutchmen. Pellis leads the Dutchmen with four home runs and is second on the team in RBIs with 17.
“I’ve been focusing on what the situation is and how I can help the team depending on the situation,” said Pellis. “I’ve also been focusing on how I think the pitcher is going to try to get me out.”
Pellis is one of six all-stars that the Dutchmen send to Cantine Field for Tuesday’s PGCBL All-Star Game. He is one of five reserve infielders on the PGCBL East Division roster as one of Albany’s more influential players at the plate.
“I’ve been trying to be on time for as many pitches as possible and be aggressive towards pitches in the strike zone,” said Pellis.
Pellis joins Aaron Roose (Azusa Pacific), Justin Bench (Ole Miss), Blake Bales (Virginia), Nick Grabek (Fairfield) and Mitchell Henshaw (St. John’s) as PGCBL All-Stars representing the Dutchmen. Albany is tied with Saugerties for the second most all-stars in the PGCBL East Division.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be there,” said Pellis. “I’m looking forward to the overall experience”
Before the All-Star Game, Pellis and the Dutchmen return to action on Monday at the Glens Falls Dragons. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The next Dutchmen home game is a doubleheader on Saturday, July 20th against the Dragons. First pitch for game one is set for 3:00 p.m. For more information, visit dutchmenbaseball.com
