Tyler Orris/ SS Millersville

By: Dutchmen Front Office

Being strong up the middle is essential for any successful baseball team. Having strong leadership and defensive skills at those positions often can turn a solid team into a championship contender. The Dutchmen are hoping that their long line of solid starting shortstops will continue with the signing of Millersville freshman Tyler Orris.

The 5’9” Orris was a high school champion at Cedar Cliff in Pennyslvania. He was the team MVP during both his junior and senior seasons, while batting .367 over his entire career. He was named All-Mid-Penn First Team each of his final two years and was also honored as the Mid-Penn Commonwealth Player of the Year as a senior.

Orris made an immediate impact at Millersville, wining the starting shortstop position on a Marauders team that won 40 games this season. He finished the year hitting .285, with a .348 on-base percentage, twenty-seven runs batted in, and nine stolen bases, along with playing a solid defense at short.

A pure contact hitter with plus defensive skills and a proven winner, Orris looks to be a solid piece in the center of the Dutchmen puzzle.
