Danny Hrbek, Radford- The 2014 Dutchmen two-way player helped his Radford Highlanders to a conference-opening series victory over Liberty, as Radford claimed two out of three games. Hrbek drove in three runs in the series opener, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning that put the Highlanders up three runs. The home run was Hrbek’s first of the season after tying for the Albany lead in homers in 2014. He added a RBI single earlier in the game that gave Radford the lead for good. The first baseman also recorded a RBI double and a RBI single in Saturday’s game, a 12-3 victory.

Jake Welch, Notre Dame College- Albany’s 2014 Opening Day and playoff game starter made his first start of the season for Notre Dame College, and earned a victory in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel on March 16. Welch worked 5.2 innings and allowed just one run against Glenville State. He surrendered just four hits while striking out four hitters. Through his first two appearances, Welch boasts a team-best 1.04 ERA over 8.2 innings, and opposing hitters are hitting under .200 (.185) against the right-hander.

Chris Suseck, Rutgers- Suseck, who wore Dutchmen colors in 2013, scored six runs over five games last week, and helped the Scarlet Knights to a series victory in their first-ever Big Ten series, taking two of three from Purdue. Suseck scored three runs in a midweek victory over Canisius, and his best weekend game came Sunday, in a decisive 5-2 win over the Boilermakers. He went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, including a fourth inning double that led to one of his runs. Suseck’s 11 runs scored currently sits tied for second on the team through 19 games.

Tyler Orris, Millersville- The 2013 Dutchmen infielder continued his solid play for the Marauders, as he scored seven runs and hit .400 over six games this past week. His best game came in a 3-2 victory over West Chester, where the leadoff-hitting shortstop scored two of the team’s three runs and went 2-for-3. Orris scored at least one run in five of last week’s six games, and leads 14-6 Millersville with 22 hits and 17 runs scored.

Charles Parslow, RPI- Parslow, who played in Albany in 2013, made his first start of the season on Sunday, tossing six scoreless innings in a 17-3 victory over Skidmore. Parslow struck out six hitters, and allowed just four hits, all singles. Parslow earned the win in his first ever start for the Engineers after two years at Hudson Valley CC. Parslow’s victory capped off a four game sweep of Skidmore for Rensselaer.

Morgan Phillips, College of Charleston- Phillips, who played for the Dutchmen in 2012, led the Cougars to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep of conference foe Towson. Phillips drove in nine runs over the four games, including two games with three RBIs. In a midweek victory over Campbell, Phillips drilled a three-run homer in the first inning to give Charleston a lead they would not relinquish in the 10-3 win. He also homered in the series finale against Towson, another three-run shot in the first inning. Phillips is currently hitting .382, best among the 14-6 Cougars. 

Thomas Belcher, Indiana-  2013 Dutchmen Thomas Belcher is making a name for himself at 19th ranked Indiana.  Through 22 2/3 innings pitched this season, Belcher has not allowed a single walk.  He has made 9 relief appearances in 22 games and holds a miniscule 0.79 ERA to go along with 23 strikeouts.

Anthony Marks, Coastal Carolina- Anthony Marks led the 2013 Dutchmen with a .342 BA and 18 stolen bases.  He is continuing the trend this year, leading red hot Coastal Carolina with a .344 BA and 9 stolen bases.  The Chanticleers have won their last 9 games in a row and currently hold an 18-6 record.
