Week #7: July 12 - July 19, 2016

D'Anna has won his last three starts, all while giving up only one earned run.

Dylan D'Anna (Siena College) has been selected as Spotlight Player of the Week for week #7, which lasted from July 13 - July 19.

D'Anna, who although only pitched one game during the week, had an incredible outing against the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs on July 16.

In that start, against a lineup that had six players who would be represented in the PGCBL All-Star game, D'Anna went 6.2 innings, allowed only three hits and an unearned run, en route to his 3rd consecutive victory in as many starts.

D'Anna said the catchers he's been working with and the defense behind him has helped him in his success.

"The catchers are great," he said. "And [the defense] gives me more confidence to put balls over the plate."

He also said that the catchers excellent defense gives him a chance to throw balls in the dirt to force strikeouts knowing the ball will stay in front of the plate.

D'anna, after starting off 0-1 with a rough outing in his first start, has gone 3-0 since and has been lights out.

D'anna has only allowed one earned run in his last 17.2 innings which have spanned across three starts.

While he originally began the season coming out of the bullpen, he's become one of the top Dutchmen starters and his arm has became a reliable assett for this team when they need it.

"I had some experience with starting," D'Anna said about his first season at Siena. He was able to get back into the feel of throwing longer and going deeper into games.

D'Anna wants to be able to keep up his success and eventually be able to make a playoff start for the Dutchmen when August rolls around.

"That'd be a great opportunity."
