The 2014 NCAA baseball season is now in full swing and there are former and current Dutchmen making some noise for their respective college programs.  In a new, weekly series, we'll keep you up to date on the happenings of Dutchmen players past and present.  Here is a sampling of what some of them have been up to during the first few weeks of play:

Howie Brey & Jon Young (Rutgers): Incoming 2014 Dutchmen Howie Brey and Jon Young were a dominant duo yet again this weekend, combining for a win and a save in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Old Dominion.  Brey started his third game of the year, pitching 6.1 scoreless innings and only allowing 3 hits en route to his second win of the season.  Young came on in the 9th to pick up his second save of the season by pitching a scoreless inning.  Brey boasts a miniscule 1.04 ERA through his first 17.1 innings pitched and has only allowed opposing hitters to a .125 batting average.  Brey and Young previously combined for a win and a save on February 22nd in a 6-2 win over Jacksonville.

Derrick Armstrong (Mississippi State): 2013 Dutchmen Derrick Armstrong tied a Mississippi State school record on Saturday, stealing four bases in a single game, helping beat Michigan State 7-1.  Armstrong has played in 12 of 14 games for the 12th ranked Bulldogs, amassing a whopping .368 batting average and 7 stolen bases.

David Stagg (Indiana State): On Saturday, 2012 Dutchmen David Stagg recorded his third win in as many tries, going 7.0 innings against New Orleans in the 10-3 victory.  On the season, Stagg has a 1.71 ERA through 21.0 innings pitched.  He has recorded 25 strikeouts while only yielding 7 walks.

Steve Anderson (Georgetown): Through his first 9 games of the year, 2011 Dutchmen Steve Anderson is off to a hot start at the plate, hitting for a sizzling .351 average.

Matt Dacey (Richmond): In a three game series over the weekend against Fairfield, 2013 Dutchmen Matt Dacey was an offensive machine.  He was 6/11 from the plate while scoring 6 runs and collecting 3 RBI.  The offensive performance included a home run, triple, double, and 3 walks.
