TROY, N.Y.- The Albany Dutchmen fell to the Houston Astros Short Season Class-A affiliate, Tri-City ValleyCats, 6-1 in an exhibition game on Wednesday.

The ValleyCats used five different pitchers to limit the Dutchmen to a run on five hits in the fourth installment of the matchup between the two local clubs.

Tri-City scored twice in the first inning on a pair of sacrifice flies. Then in the second, scored their third run on a wild pitch from Dutchmen starter Steven Plaskett (Air Force).

Plaskett pitched three and two thirds innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits. He surrendered two walks and had two strikeouts.

Dylan D’Anna (Siena) entered the game in the fourth and after allowing a single to the first batter he faced, he retired the next six in a row.

The ValleyCats scored two in the sixth inning, both off D’Anna, on a two-run home run by Juan Pineda to left.

After a lead-off triple in the bottom of the eighth led to a run to make the score 6-0, the Dutchmen scored in the top of the ninth when three consecutive singles loaded the bases with one out and Griffen Herrera (Azusa Pacific) ground into a fielder’s choice and got an RBI.

Cameron Collett (Marshall) was 1-for-3 for the Dutchmen but reached base in each of his four plate appearances and stole a base.

After the first six Dutchmen hitters were retired, they put at least one runner on base in each inning after the second. They also brought the tying run to the plate in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

The regularly scheduled home game on Wednesday against the Newark Pilots has been cancelled due to the potential of severe weather activity.

The Dutchmen will return to action on Thursday as they travel to Amsterdam with first pitch set for 6:45.

Albany will return home on Saturday for a 5:05 start against the Saugerties Stallions for CDTA Kids in Free Night, where all kids fourteen and under will get free admission.
