The Albany Dutchmen play in Glens Falls.
Sunday, July 4th (Glens Falls, NY) — The Albany Dutchmen made it a happy Independence Day beating the Glens Falls Dragons 9-3 on the road.
Albany fell behind early as the Dragons got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Joseph Curci (RPI) drove in Cory Listing (Coker) on a double to open the scoring at 1-0.
The Dutchmen would strike right back in the top of the second. Adam Zebrowski (St. John Fisher) would hit his fifth home run on the year to tie things up. Evan Fox (Stony Brook) would follow that up with a home run of his own to make the score 2-1.
Albany would keep things rolling in the second inning. Isaac Humphrey (Louisville) and Jake Defayette (RPI) would both score as unearned runs to make the score 4-1 Dutchmen.
The Dragons would get a few runs back immediately. In the bottom of the second, Reece de Castro (Castleton) would score on a wild pitch to bring the deficit to 4-2.
Glens Falls would add another run in their half of the third inning as well. Colby Brouillette (Clarkson) would drive in Listing on a single to bring the score to 4-3.
That would be the end of the night for Dutchmen starting pitcher Ben Seiler (Siena). The tall lefty went 3.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, striking out 7 Dragons in the process.
Mike Poirier (St. John Fisher) took over from there. Poirier threw 3.0 shutout innings while he struck out 4 batters. The highlight of the middle innings however was a home run robbery made by Humphrey in left-center field keeping the 4-3 Dutchmen lead in place.
Another run would not come across until the top of the eighth inning. Logan Beard (Louisville) walked to get on the would later score on a wild pitch to make the score 5-3.
The Dutchmen would tack on some insurance in the top of the ninth. Johnny Decker (Stony Brook) started things off with a triple before being brought in by Ryan McGee (Siena). McGee would later score when Mike Handal (Fairfield) legged out a triple himself to make the score 7-3.
Albany would add two more before it was all said and done. Will Stroud (Azusa Pacific) would drive in two runs to make the score 9-3.
The Dutchmen will return to action tomorrow when they visit the Oneonta Outlaws. Albany will not return home until Wednesday when they host the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs.
