(ALBANY, NY)-- Albany Dutchmen returned to the home field of Keenholts Park for the first time in 10 days, and fell to Saugerties Stallions 8-4 in a game that saw 10 pitchers take the mound.
Saugerties got to work early, as Max Cotier (Virginia) led the game off with a double that kickstarted his five hit night. Brandon Fish (UMass Lowell) drove in the first run of the day on a sacrifice fly, and Garrett Michel (Virginia Tech) drove in two more on his double that highlighted the inning.
The 4th inning was the only frame of the night that saw both teams touch the plate. Saugerties extended the lead to four runs on a balk, before Albany cut it to two on an Austin Bode (Louisville) single, and a fielder's choice RBI from Matt Bergevin (Fairfield).
Brandon Fish (UMass Lowell) singled in a run in the 5th to become the first of three Stallions hitters on the evening to have two-RBIs.
Albany brought the game within a run in the bottom of the 6th as Tyler Young (Lehigh) and Nick Plue (Manhattan) each picked up an RBI single.
The dagger came in the 7th as Evan Goforth (Indiana) blasted a two run home run that gave Saugerties a 7-4 lead, before Jahlani Rogers (FGCU) singled in a run to produce the eventual final of 8-4.
Albany now sits three games outside a playoff spot heading into the final week of the regular season. The Dutchmen will play six contests in the final week, beginning Monday night at 6:35 in Amsterdam.
