Bullpen Falters Bringing Dutchmen Back To .500

Recent Dutchmen Addition John Novenche (Canisius College) squares off against Chase Haney (Florida State University) who would collect the win.

The Albany Dutchmen would lose to the on the road to the Amsterdam Mohawks by a score of 7-3 on Friday night.

Albany tied the game at 3-3 during the 7th innings after trailing early on, but were unable to take the lead at any point in the game.

Jack Owense (Bryant University) was called on the relieve Jared Gold (Coastal Carolina University) with the score tied at 3-3, but surrendered a two-run home run to Joe Genord (University of South Florida) and the Mohawks never looked back.

Gold would take the loss, his fourth of the season, as he was responsible for the runner on base during Genord's home run that gave the Mohawks the lead in the game.

Amsterdam would add another pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th when Tyler Frank (Florida Atlantic University) would hit a single that scored Andruw Gazzola (Stony Brook University) and Eric Downey (The College at Brockport) off of J.D. Mundt (University of Louisville) to increase their lead to four runs.

Albany's pitchers could never get into a groove as all four pitchers used gave up at least one earned run on the evening.

Kale Morton (Azusa Pacific University) got his team-leading sixth start of the season, as he received the no decision. He went five innings giving up three earned runs on seven hits, while striking out two.

On the offensive side, the Dutchmen bats were led by recent addition Anthony Forte (Tulane University) who has made himself comfortable in the lineup so far as he collected his first and second RBI of the season. Forte went 3-3 on the night, with a pair of RBI that came on extra base hits. His triple in the 5th inning scored John Novenche (Canisius College) and his double in the top of the 7th inning scored Malcolm Nachmanoff (Stony Brook University).

Forte was chosen as Dutchmen Recognoize Player of the Game.

Micah McHugh (University of Mississippi) had the lone other Dutchmen RBI when he grounded out allowing Forte to score after his triple in the 5th inning.

Chase Haney (Florida State University) would pick up his second win of the season for Amsterdam as he went 2.2 innings without allowing a run or a hit, striking out three.

Amsterdam goes on the road Saturday as they will face off against the Oneonta Outlaws at 7:00 p.m.

The Dutchmen will return home to face the Glens Falls Dragons at 7:05 p.m. at Bob Bellizzi Field.

Albany will also have a free multiple sclerosis walk at 6:45 p.m. to bring awareness to the disease, as anyone who participates will receive a free ticket to a future game. Both teams will also participate as the walk will go around the warning track on the perimeter of the field.

The Dutchmen would also like to encourage everyone in attendance to wear orange in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, as $2 of every ticket purchased from someone wearing orange will be donated to the MS Society.

There will also be a photo giveaway to the first 200 fans in attendance, as fans will have to the choice to choose a picture of either Zach Remillard (Coastal Carolina University), Gavin Wallace (Fairfield University) or J.J. Shimko (University of South Carolina Upstate), courtesy of Stannard Photography. Saturday night will also be baseball bingo for all fans in attendance who purchase a game program.
