Dutchmen show perfection on both sides tonight, beating the Stallions by a score of 11-0

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. – The Dutchmen were firing on all cylinders Tuesday in Saugerties, as they beat the Saugerties Stallions, 11-0.
In a night that Albany scored an impressive 11 runs on 13 hits, the real story was in the pitching of Greg Marino (Stony Brook).
Marino started for the Dutchmen and put on one of the most dominant performances seen throughout the PGCBL all season: he went 6.2 innings, facing the minimum number of batters, while only throwing 55 pitches. He allowed only one baserunner on a Patrick Lagravinese (UAlbany) single.
Drew Farkas (Hartford) started the game for the Stallions, recording two solid innings to start the game, but the Dutchmen offense got it started in the 3rd inning, scoring two runs off a Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) RBI double and a Brandt Holland (North Alabama) RBI single.
Albany tacked on another run in the 4th inning with a sacrifice bunt by Peyton Sockwell (North Alabama) that allowed Colin Kaucher (Ohio Dominican) to cross the plate.
Saugerties looked to their bullpen for help after Farkas let baserunners on in the 5th inning. Jason Antalek (Iona) came into the game and surrendered a sac fly to Nick Gallo (Oklahoma State) that allowed Justin Childers to score, increasing the Dutchmen lead to four.
The Dutchmen struck again in the 7th inning, adding five more runs off Saugerties pitcher Brady Peterson (Stetson). Peterson struggled with control, issuing three walks despite recording only two outs in tonight’s appearance.
Roel Garcia (Rice) came in relief for Marino in the 7th inning with two outs and picked up right where Marino left off. Garcia pitched 1.1 strong innings, surrendering three baserunners on a single, a walk and a hit by pitch.
In a lengthy top of the 9th, the Dutchmen kept the offense going, scoring two more runs to pad their lead to 11. One of the two runs was credited to Stallions pitcher Ian Sheuer (Manhattan) off a Justin Decker RBI single scoring Justin Childers for the third time in the contest. The second run came off a wild pitch, allowing Peyton Sockwell to score.
In the bottom of the 9th Saugerties put some pressure on Dutchmen reliever Nick Bruno (Siena), having two runners in scoring position due to a walk, single and wild pitch. Bruno was able to close out the game with the last play coming on a Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) fly ball out in foul territory.
Greg Marino was able to secure his first win of the season, lowering his ERA to an impressive 2.10 on the season, with Drew Farkas recording his second loss on the season.
With the win, the Dutchmen improve to 14-10 on the season, closing their gap between the first place Amsterdam Mohawks to four games. The Stallions drop to 13-12 on the season, falling 5.5 games back of the first place Amsterdam Mohawks.
The Dutchmen are back in action Wednesday evening at Siena Field, where they again take on the Saugerties Stallions, with first pitch coming at 5:05 p.m. on Siena Sports Camp Night.
