Dan Keaney (Marist) has been named the Generation Land Management Player of the Week for Week Three (6/20/22-6/26/22). Keaney worked six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and punching out five in his start this week.
Keaney has now worked 11 straight scoreless innings, including back-to-back scoreless starts. This summer marks the first time Keaney is facing collegiate bats, but the recent Guilderland High graduate has been up for the challenge.
“I warmed up pretty good, arms and fingers felt good, I knew it was going to be a good day,” Keaney said.
While Keaney’s quiet confidence is consistent in his demeanor both on and off the field, one thing that is new to him within the calendar year is a new pitch in his arsenal.
“I’ve always had confidence in myself and I gained a third pitch, throwing a changeup for strikes, getting rollovers and strikeouts,” Keaney said.
Keaney had plenty of success in his Guilderland career which led to his next journey after this summer at Keenholts, Marist College.
“Facing top division one guys is helping me prepare for the next level, not overthinking things and just throwing the way I throw has been big for me,” Keaney said.
Albany returns to action Thursday at Amsterdam for a 6:35 first pitch.
