Vince Venditti, Dutchmen center fielder hailing from The College of Saint Rose, has been selected as the Week #1 Spotlight Player of the Week!
Venditti blasted 2 home runs, stole 7 bases, and recorded 7 RBI in a mere 3 games played. He hit .417 (5/12) for the abbreviated opening week that began on Opening Night, Thursday, June 1st, and ended Sunday, June 4th. His 2 home runs makes him the sole Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League leader in the category.
“I didn't change anything or how I played,” stated Venditti when asked about what led up to the outstanding week 1 performance. “I just went out there and played the way I know how to play.”
Venditti recorded a home run on his first swing at Dutchmen Field this season, getting the Dutchmen off on the right foot. The blast helped lead to the eventual 13-1 victory in game one of the doubler header versus Watertown on Saturday.
In addition to continuing his hot start, Venditti looks forward to working towards all of his goals this summer.
“I want to develop as a player and continue having fun playing the game,” said Venditti when asked what his plans were for the 2023 season with the Dutchmen.
Venditti turned heads to watch his stellar week one play on offense. However, his defense in center field was just as great as his performance at the plate, Venditti recorded zero errors in the field during the week, making him a threat not only at the plate but out in center field.
