Will Miller (UAlbany) rounds third in a Dutchmen game in 2014.

Johnny Reid, Azusa Pacific- The incoming Dutchmen pitcher remained perfect on the season, picking up a victory and working 3.2 scoreless innings over two relief appearances. The spotless frames boosted Reid’s season total to 17.2 scoreless innings pitched. On Thursday, Reid tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning with two strikeouts as Azusa Pacific claimed a 6-4 victory. He then allowed just three hits over 2.2 innings in a Saturday win over Cal Baptist. Reid struck out two hitters, bringing his number to 25 on the season. Reid’s win gave the Cougars a series split on the road.

Brandon Nylin, Herkimer CC- Nylin, who will pitch for the Dutchmen this summer, tossed six shutout innings in his first start for the 3rd ranked NJCAA Generals, a Wednesday victory over Jefferson Community College. Nylin allowed just three hits, all singles, and struck out six hitters without surrendering a walk. Nylin’s win was part of a 10-0 week for Herkimer, as the Generals sit 19-3 on the season.

Will Miller, UAlbany- The 2014 Dutchmen outfielder had a solid week for the Great Danes, leading UAlbany to a series win over Binghamton. Miller scored six runs and drove in six, hitting .357 over the week’s four games. In the series opener, Miller scored two runs and drove in another via bases loaded walk. One of Miller’s two runs scored was the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth. The outfielder also drove in two runs on a triple in the second game. He saved his best for the rubber match, drilling a two-run home run and singling in the game-tying run in the top of the ninth.

Nick DiLeo, Wagner- DiLeo, who pitched for Albany in 2014, made a pair of relief appearances this week, both in Wagner victories. DiLeo’s week began with two scoreless innings on Tuesday, allowing just one hit in an 11-6 victory over Saint Peter’s. The lefty stepped back onto the mound on Saturday, as he retired five straight NJIT hitters to allow the Seahawks to rally for an 8-7 victory.

Zach Remillard, Coastal Carolina- Despite a 2-3 week for the ranked Chanticleers, Remillard led the team’s offense by driving in six runs and hitting .333. In a midweek game against College of Charleston, Remillard drove in two runs- one on a sacrifice fly and another on an eighth inning single. He also accounted for two of Coastal’s three runs in a loss to Radford by smacking a two-run homer over the center field wall. The middle game of the series also featured two RBIs from the former Dutchmen, which came on a go-ahead double in the sixth inning of a win.

Joe Purritano, Dartmouth- Purritano has been a centerpiece of the Dartmouth offense, as a big week for the Big Green clinched a spot in the Ivy League championship series for the eighth consecutive year. The 2013 Albany star drove in nine runs over six games, all victories. His best game came on Tuesday, as he went 2-for-3 with four runs batted in. His RBIs came on a pair of triples, both of which scored two runs in a 6-5 victory over UMass Lowell. He drilled a third triple in the second game against UMass, which also scored two runs. Purritano hit .368 for the week, and leads Dartmouth with 27 runs batted in.

Nate Rupiper, Memphis- The Memphis captain, who wore the Dutchmen colors in 2013, helped the Tigers to a 3-2 week, including a conference series victory over USF. Rupiper hit .500 over the five games. His best game came in the series finale against the Bulls, where he went 3-for-4 and drove in a run on a sixth inning single in the 6-4 win. He also doubled to drive in a run in the first game of the series.

Morgan Phillips, College of Charleston- Phillips, who called Albany his summer home in 2012, had another successful week for the ranked Cougars, leading them to a conference series win and a 3-1 record. Phillips, who is hitting .333 on the season, drove in two runs in the team’s win over in-state rival Coastal Carolina, and added RBIs in two of the match ups against Delaware. He also scored four runs during the week, and has the Cougars battling for the top spot in the CAA standings.

Brandon Trinkwon, Los Angeles Dodgers organization- Trinkwon, a 2011 Dutchmen who is playing for the Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, currently boasts a seven-game hit streak and a .353 batting average. Trinkwon had back-to-back stellar games in wins over Lake Elsinore, following a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored in a contest where he drove in two runs with three hits. Trinkwon’s Quakes sit 8-3, best in the California League’s South Division.

Jon Leroux, New York Mets organization- Leroux, who is playing for the Class A Savannah Sand Gnats, played for the Dutchmen in 2009. Leroux drove in five runs over five games this past week, led by a three-run performance in a 5-2 win over the Rome Braves. That five-inning victory saw Leroux provide the winning margin via a three-run double. The Northeastern product also added RBIs in two games against Charleston.
