NCAA Division I
Troy Montemayor, Baylor- One of the best relief pitchers in college baseball pushed his save total to 12 this week, as Baylor went 5-0 after sweeps of Prairie View A&M and Oklahoma State. After tossing a scoreless inning in an 18-1 victory over Prairie View, Montemayor earned the save in each of the Bears' final two wins over Oklahoma State, going 1.1 and 1.2 innings, respectively. In his 21 appearances in 2017, Montemayor has earned a win or save 15 times. His ERA dropped to 0.84 with the three scoreless outings this past week.
Austin Goeke, Wagner- Goeke went the distance for the Seahawks on Friday afternoon, leading Wagner to a 5-2 victory over Central Connecticut State. In his fifth win of the season, the pitcher from the 2014 Dutchmen roster allowed one run on four hits, striking out three. It was Goeke's second complete game of the season, and his first of the nine-inning variety. The victory dropped the senior's ERA to 2.62, and his ninth start of zero or one earned runs allowed.
Teddy Cillis, Hofstra- For the second week in a row, Cillis succeeded at the plate and on the mound. On the mound, Cillis struck out 14 hitters over eight innings despite a loss to James Madison. The pitcher that played in Albany in 2013 has struck out 30 hitters in his last 15 innings on the mound. At the plate, he went 6-for-9 with two home runs during a split with James Madison. During the games on Saturday and Sunday, the two-way player drove in three runs and scored another three.
Kyle Skeels, Coastal Carolina- The Coastal catcher put together a massive game for the Chanticleers on Tuesday, driving in four runs in a 13-6 win over UNC Wilmington. Skeels came up just short of a cycle, belting a homer, double, and a single. He also scored four runs in the victory, and reached base in all four of his plate appearances. The 2016 Dutchmen player also drove in a run on Sunday via sacrifice fly, as the Chants earned a 5-0 win over UT-Arlington.
Dylan D'Anna, Siena- D'Anna earned his third win of 2017 as the Saints grabbed their second straight MAAC series win. D'Anna, who pitched for the Dutchmen last summer, did not allow an earned run over 2.1 innings, striking out two hitters. Siena scored a run in the eighth and three more in the ninth to give D'Anna the win, 5-3, over Niagara. D'Anna, who also has five saves to his credit, has made more appearances on the mound than all but one of his teammates.
Danny Hrbek, Radford- The 2014 Dutchmen star entered the week without a home run in his senior season, but left with two. Hrbek hit a home run during Radford's midweek battle with Wake Forest, and capped the week with a longball in the series finale against High Point. He drove in a run in each of the four games, marking five consecutive contests in which he has at least one RBI. The senior is the only player on the Highlander roster that has started, and played, in every game this season.
Adam Elliott, Louisville- Louisville continued their dominance with a road sweep at nationally ranked Clemson and a midweek victory over Vanderbilt. The incoming Dutchmen pitcher pitched twice for the Cardinals this week without allowing a run. Elliott got five outs in the seventh and eighth innings in a 6-2 win over Vandy on Tuesday, and then recorded four outs in the first of three Cardinal victories over the Tigers. In 17 appearances on the season, Elliott has logged a 0.99 ERA. The sweep propelled Louisville to 46-6 on the season, and clinched a division championship for the Cardinals.
Drew Robertson, Baylor- The 2016 Dutchmen reliever helped Baylor lock down their sweep over Oklahoma State by picking up the victory in the series finale. Robertson entered the game in the sixth inning, and tossed 1.2 innings with a walk as his only blemish. The Bears would score three runs in the top of the eight to propel Robertson to his second win. He also worked a perfect inning in Baylor's 15-2 victory over Prairie View on Tuesday, striking out two of the three hitters.
Ernie Clement, Virginia- It was a workmanlike week for the 2014 Dutchmen standout, who hit .357 in Virginia's series victory over the Miami Hurricanes. He hit safely in all three games of the homestand, including two-hit efforts with a run scored and a run batted in during each of the first two games. On the season, Clement has 67 hits, good for second on the roster. Entering the weekend, he was listed as the second hardest player to strike out in the nation, falling victim to a strikeout once in every 28.9 at bats.
NCAA Division III-
Liam Conboy, Susquehanna- Conboy finished his Susquehanna career with two scoreless outings in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Conboy, who pitched for the Dutchmen in 2014, tossed three innings with just one hit allowed as the River Hawks forced a decisive championship game on Sunday. He also recorded the final five outs in the championship game despite Susquehanna falling to Elizabethtown. The save was his fourth of the season, which made him the outright leader on the roster to finish the campaign.
