(ALBANY)-- Albany Dutchmen fell in tonight’s contest to the Saugerties Stallions by a final score of 9-3.
The game started as a pitcher’s duel, as each team’s starting pitcher worked four scoreless frames. Michael DiMartino (Fairleigh Dickinson) allowed four hits and struck out five batters in four innings of work for Albany, while Coulson Buchanan (Wofford) matched it with four innings of one-hit ball.
Both teams turned to their bullpens for the 5th inning, when Saugerties put up a five run frame that was highlighted by a Brandon Fish (UMass-Lowell) grand slam that put the Stallions ahead 5-0. Fish and Jake Skrine (Indiana) each put up three-hit nights as a part of a 12 hit night for Saugerties, while Chance Checca (Herkimer) put up a three-hit night in Albany’s seven-hit effort.
Albany trailed 7-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th before a two-run single from Max Gebauer (Franklin Pierce) put the Dutchmen on the board,
Saugerties put up a run in each of the 7th and 8th frames to put the game out of reach en route to a Stallions win.
Albany returns to action tomorrow at home, at Keenholts Park for a 6:35 first pitch against Mohawk Valley.
