(AMSTERDAM, NY)-- Albany Dutchmen fell 5-2 at Amsterdam on Monday night.
Amsterdam got out to a quick start courtesy of a Gage Miller (Bishop State CC) lead off blast in the home half of the first in a night that saw Miller go a triple shy of the cycle. The Mohawks expanded that lead to 3-0 in the second as Miller followed it up with an RBI single.
Albany got on the board in the 4th as Caden Shapiro (Princeton) doubled, advanced on a passed ball, and scored on a fielder's choice that gave Tyler Young (Lehigh) the RBI.
The lead was cut to one run in the 6th as Zach Ranney (SNHU) scored on a Max Gebauer (Franklin Pierce) sacrifice fly for Albany.
Amsterdam answered back in the bottom of the 6th on a Mark Black (Wake Forest) RBI single and a Nick Giamarusti (Pittsburgh) bases loaded walk which led the Mohawks to the eventual 5-2 victory.
Dutchmen return home for a 6:35 first pitch Tuesday, July 12th against Saugerties.
