(ONEONTA, NY)-- The Albany Dutchmen(14-17) traveled to Oneonta on Saturday night and swept a doubleheader against the Oneonta Outlaws (11-22).  The Dutchmen won the first game 4-0, and then broke the bats out to win 12-1 in game two.  The winning pitcher of game one was CJ Kuentzel (Iona University), and in game two it was Greg Shaw (Manhattan College).

Scoring for the Dutchmen started in the top of the third in game one.  Mario Cubello (St. John Fisher/Transfer Portal) and Vince Venditti (St. Rose) pulled off a double steal to set up a sacrifice fly by Brody Keneston(Le Moyne) to take an early 1-0 lead.

Anderson Moreno (SNHU/Transfer Portal) extended the lead in the seventh using his legs to steal third base and come home on a bad throw. Venditti, stealing right behind Moreno, would move to third base on the bad throw and scored the second run of the inning on a Keneston’s ground out. Austin Francis (NJIT) reached third on the ground ball after a walk and a steal, and then scored on JT Vance’s (Mississippi College) sacrifice fly to make the score 4-0.

Kuentzl pitched six strong innings only allowing four baserunners with four strikeouts, and Nick Kolze (Heartland CC) closed out the game getting a couple of ground outs stranding a one-out single.

The Dutchmen scored first once again in game two, this time starting things off in the bottom of the second when Francis once again walked and stole a base.  He would later score from third on a passed ball.  The Dutchmen would follow the second inning with four runs in each the third and the fourth.

The third inning opened up with a leadoff double from Anthony Paskell (Rider) who would then score when JT Vance walked with the bases loaded.  Venditti, who reached base on a single, scored on a sacrifice fly by Francis.  Moreno followed that up with a sacrifice fly of his own to score Vance and later in the inning, Keneston would score on a wild pitch.  In the fourth inning Vance hit a three-run bases-clearing double to make it 8-0, and then scored the ninth run of the game on a passed ball.

The Outlaws lone run of the night came in the fifth inning scored by Ryan Leary (Wagner) who walked, stole a base, and then came home to score on an error on Connor Roche’s (Wagner) single.

The Dutchmen scored their final three runs in the sixth inning when Nick Plue (Cortland) led off with a single and then scored on Moreno’s RBI double.  Francis and Moreno would both score in the inning on a passed ball and an RBI groundout by Josh Foglia (St. Rose).

The starter Shaw went four innings and struck out four.  Jackson Smith (Kankakee CC) pitched two innings in relief, striking out three.  Parker Lendrum (SNHU) got the seventh and stranded two runners, closing the game out with a strikeout.

The Dutchmen’s next game will be Sunday night at Mohawk Valley against the Diamond Dawgs at 6:35 PM.  The Dutchmen return home to Dutchmen Field at Keenholts Park Thursday July 20th for a doubleheader with Amsterdam.
