The Albany Dutchmen added Wagner teammates Nick DiLeo and Austin Goeke to close out their rotation for the 2014 summer.
Nick DiLeo is in his first year at Wagner after transferring from St. Johns. The left-hander from Brooklyn, New York played his high school ball at Xavier High School, where he earned four varsity letters and led the Knights to a Division Title and an appearance in the CHSAA Championship Game over his four years. As a sophomore, he tossed a one-hitter against St. Raymond and a four-hitter against local power Xaverian, while being named All-Manhattan and All-City CHSAA. He also garnered All-Manhattan and All-City accolades from the New York Post during his time there. After recovering from an arm injury last season, DiLeo has worked himself back up to full strength and is looking to make an immediate impact for the Dutchmen in 2014.
Joining him in Albany will be right-hander Austin Goeke. The 6’5” right-hander from Bordentown, New Jersey played his prep ball for the Hun School, earning three varsity letters while helping the Raiders to a State Championship. He was selected as an All-Northeast Region Honorable Mention as a senior, while also earning First Team All-State as a sophomore and winning the Coaches Award. He notched First Team All-Area accolades in each of his three varsity seasons. Austin worked his way into the mix for the Seahawks, throwing 8.1 innings on the year, allowing only six hits, and earning a win in his final outing against Hofstra in which he threw 3.2 innings out of the bullpen, giving up three hits and one run.
