ALBANY, NY—The Glens Falls Dragons (10-10) collected two victories on their PGCBL East Division rivals, the Albany Dutchmen (8-10), stretching their lead in the Subway Summer Series 3-1. The Dragons took game 1 10-9, and the second contest 7-4.

In game 1, after starting the suspended game from June 12th in the bottom of the 1st, the Dutchmen scored all nine of their runs through the first three frames. Just six batters into the game, Slayton Vaughan (Oral Roberts) roped a 2-run double to right centerfield that plated a pair, giving the Dutchmen a 3-0 advantage.

But the lead would not last. Glens Falls scored five times in the top of the 2nd, on the strength of just one hit, against Dutchmen reliever Nick Cioffi (Towson). Cioffi is normally a starter for Nick Davey, but technically came out of the bullpen during the restarted affair.

Thanks to three walks and a pair of errors by third basemen Michael Fitzsimmons (Ole Miss), the Dragons sent nine hitters to the plate in the five-run 2nd.

Albany then reclaimed the lead, stretching the advantage to 9-5 in the bottom of the 3rd. The Dutchmen batted around in the bottom of the 3rd, with the big blast being a 2-run triple by Sean Aspinall (Asuza Pacific).

After scoring a pair in the 5th, the Dragons scored two more on a 2-run double by Donovan Christman (Lynn) to tie the game. Glens Falls took the lead for good on an RBI single in the top of the 8th by Oscar Rodriguez (St. Thomas), plating Tyler Phillips (Herkimer CC), who reached and advanced into to scoring position on the sixth error committed by the Dutchmen.

Game 2 saw more of the same for the Dutchmen fielders. Four more miscues brought their day total to an even 10.

For the third straight game, the Dutchmen scored first. An RBI single by Jack Weiller (Virginia) two batters into the game brought home Grayson Lewis (Rice) and gave the Dutchmen the early lead.

Lewis had a spectacular day for the Dutchmen atop Nick Davey’s lineup. After reaching base four times in game run and scoring three runs, Lewis went 3-4 in game 2, on base four more times, scoring two runs and driving in a run.

After tying the game in the 3rd, Jake Vieth (Tacoma CC) roped a 2-run double to the outfield, giving Glens Falls a 3-1 lead. Veith doubled in two more in the 7th, giving him five doubles on the day, four runs scored and four RBI.

Both Coach Nick Davey and Patrick Hisle (Maryland) were dismissed by the infield umpire after a close play at first base in the bottom of the 6th inning. Aspinall, who was called out on the play, left the game after flying out in the 7th while he grimaced and held his hamstring immediately after he rounded first base.

Trailing 7-3, Michael Bollmer (Louisville) smashed a solo homerun to right centerfield, cutting the deficit to three. It was Bollmer’s second blast of the season, and first recorded at Bellizzi Field.

Tomorrow, these two teams will duke it out in Glens Falls. Chris Amorosi (Siena) is expected to get the ball for Albany to stop their current four-game losing skid.

Friday at Bellizzi Field is Martin, Harding and Mazzotti Giveaway Night. The first 300 fans will receive a free Dutchmen mini bat, compliments of the night’s sponsor. There will also be baseball bingo for the game between the Dutchmen
