March 28, 2018
The Louisville Cardinals are currently the No. 14 ranked team in the nation with an 18-6 start to the 2018 season. The Cardinals also set a school record for wins with a 53-12 mark one year ago, advancing to the College World Series for the third time in the last five seasons. On top of that, they made their fifth straight appearance in a NCAA Super Regional, the nation's longest active streak.
The Albany Dutchmen are excited to announce the signings of two true freshman from the Cardinals for Summer 2018: utility man Lucas Dunn and SS Cameron Masterman. Their Louisville teammate Adam Elliott is a former Dutchmen and just like Dunn, a two way player for the Cardinals.
Dunn is currently batting .240 in 13 games played for the Cardinals this season.
Ranked as a top 200 player in the state of Florida in the class of 2017, Dunn was honored as a 2017 Rawlings Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American and Three-time All-Area team selection.
From the plate, Dunn batted .430 with 10 doubles, 13 RBIs and 28 runs scored his senior season. He also finished with a 2.82 ERA and 71 strikeouts, serving as a pivotal part of Arnold High School’s pitching staff. Dunn started every game during his four years on the varsity squad at Arnold.
A three-time Defensive Player of the Year as well as the Offensive Player of the Year his senior season at Arnold High School, Lucas Dunn brings versatility both from the batter’s box and pitcher's mound to Siena Field as a utility man for Summer 2018.
Rated the No. 1 shortstop and 11th overall prospect in Kentucky, Masterman is a great addition to a Dutchmen organization coming off their most successful season in team history with a program record 33 wins in 2017.
He was also a 2017 Rawlings Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American and All-State First Team selection. Masterman finished his senior season batting .457 with six home runs, 43 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
A four year letterwinner at North Oldham High School, Masterman was named the Eighth Region Player of the Year in 2017. He also a three-time MVP of North Oldham high school while also playing on the varsity basketball team.
Masterman started playing for the varsity baseball team when he was in middle school.
The Dutchmen are excited to bring these two extremely talented and highly recruited players from Louisville to Albany for the 2018 season.
